New Editions
All four of my novels published originally by Omnium Gatherum now have new editions published by me on Amazon.
I’d gotten word earlier that Omnium was pivoting away from book publishing. Fortunately for me Kate Jonez, Omnium’s president, not only transferred the rights back to me but also kindly helped me with the process of getting these files in order to put up on Amazon. I’m so appreciative of this. She’s kind and great to work with.
The process itself had a few hiccups. I’ve self published on Amazon before, both of my two short story compilations of tales set in my fantasy campaign world, A Cookbook for the Besieged and Ten for the Ages were published that way.
But there’s something very different about putting up one book versus doing five (four novels and a short story). The little snags with the Kindle Direct Publishing website, which might seem like nothing, suddenly seem like a lot when you’re dealing with five titles, the covers for print and kindle versions, and seemingly every piece has some different formatting snag to fix. If I didn’t already appreciate what a publisher does, I doubly do now. Or maybe doubly isn’t enough. Exponentially sounds more accurate.
If you don’t already have one of these books but are interested in acquiring one or more, here are links and descriptions for each title:
The Whisperer in Dissonance: Annie is overworked and underpaid. She’s under stress and suffering from a horrible bout of insomnia. Meanwhile a computer virus starts infecting social media accounts and then seemingly the users of those accounts. Can Annie save her mother from the people hacking computers and people? Can she save herself? (Print, Kindle)
End Times at Ridgemont High: The teens at Ridgemont High are confronted with many of the problems that teens have always had to contend with over the years. But as the emphasis on education has been eroded, and as the adults in their life become consumed with a cult that worships self interest over the common good, what opportunities can possibly exist after graduation? If they even live to get their diplomas. (Print, Kindle)
The Rat Pack in the Walls (Short Story): A community college film teacher’s trip to Vegas is supposed to be a gift to himself, a reward for surviving the semester. But after losing control and smashing a hole in his hotel room wall he discovers a film canister and a cocktail shaker, and then things really start to unravel. (Kindle)
Four Corners: Martin Keuper must help his oldest friend, Kevin Chung, with the archeological find of the century. As they uncover layer upon layer they discover a conspiracy running through all of known time, one that still exists and endangers them in the present. Can they piece the clues together in time to save humanity? Can they deal with the immediate danger to themselves? How does one cope with an enemy that spans eons? (Print, Kindle)
Union Station: Thomas Jackson is hired to steal a book that’s not supposed to exist. The Book is a universal codebook, a cheat code to the universe. Fortunately for him he is a gifted bibliomancer and has plenty of friends with unique magical abilities that can help him along the way. (Print, Kindle)
And now that I’ve gotten through all that file formatting, I can at last get back to the important thing: writing the next book!
